The Rembrandts took a different approach to recording their third album, LP. Although the duo would not stray from the signature hooks and harmonies that filled the first two albums, The Rembrandts had developed a more rocking sound live, and were hoping to capture that on LP. What The Rembrandts came up with was an album capable of fitting in almost anywhere on the suddenly changing rock & roll landscape. Perhaps none of the 14 tracks had the instant appeal of Just The Way It Is Baby, but tunes like This House Is Not A Home, & Comin' Home seemed destined for mainstream airplay. Lovin' Me Insane and April 29 were ripe for Modern Rock radio, and Drowning In Your Tears was a perfect fit for AC radio. In a world where Alternative was the new sound, The Rembrandts seemed ready to make their mark.
But as it turns out, all of these songs would be overshadowed by a song never intended for LP. Before the album's release, Phil & Danny had anonymously recorded the theme song for a TV show. The duo didn't know how long the show would last, but Friends became a huge hit, and I'll Be There For You was among the most requested songs on radio even as a mere 32 second theme. Elektra Records demanded that The Rembrandts add a full length version of the song to LP.  I'll Be There For You would become their biggest hit and LP would go platinum. The Rembrandts were household names, but it would be 6 years until the next album!  Lost?
